3 Steps to Your Best Year Ever
The year is ending. And I can hear some of you say: “Good riddance!” But what does it look like to not only end the year well but step into the new year with minimal baggage and hope for what the new year will bring?
Our stories have the power to move, to shift, to break down barriers, and to build bridges. Join me as we learn from them together.
“Words have energy and power with the ability to help, to heal, to hinder, to hurt, to harm, to humiliate, and to humble.” -Yehuda Berg
As far back as I can remember, I have had a book in my hand, one in my heart, and three more in my backpack. If you see me around, ask and I’ll start unpacking. Growing up in a tumultuous home environment, books were my safe place. I loved getting lost in other worlds, in characters that often had it worse than I did, but I also loved seeing the most terrible situations find some resolution. And as young as I was, I think that’s what drew me in.
With a background as a varsity lecturer, a pastor, preacher, worship leader, and a Communications Manager for a multi-site Church, I know the power of words well crafted and spoken. I love to write, teach and speak and this site is wher my musings go. Every two weeks, I’ll share some of my thoughts on what it means to live a faith-based life, and sometimes, just some wacky off-the-wall thoughts I am having…
I live (and thrive) in South Africa and I am married to the love of my life, Maya, and we have the privilege of being parents to a beautiful, funny, kind, and cheeky little girl.
Join me on the journey…

In two days, I’ll be 45. And I wish I could say I took birthdays on the chin and grew old gracefully. But no. I gripe and moan. I make it incredibly hard for my wife, who just wants to make it a special day. But I am determined each year to make “The Grinch” my spirit animal. You too? Let’s end the cycle.
We all lie. No? Just me? Well let me take the time to confess something: While I am generally a very honest person, I have a lie I tell all the time. And I’ve gotten really good at it. Wan’t to know what it is? Then read on…

Once a month we’re having an in-person get together for faith-based writers. In general, we’ll get together, grab some coffee, share what we’re working on, and then take the time to write. Occasionally we will have a guest lecturer on the art of writing. Additionally we will have an online “Book Club” discussing a faith-based book. Sign up for one of our events below.
